Colophon

First and foremost, this website is not intended to be a portfolio, it is a site where I share what I am creating, the content I am engaging with, what I am learning, as well as my thoughts on various cultural issues.

In my food section, I share recipes for meals and drinks without the word salad we see on so many recipe blogs. My intent is to share and possibly inspire someone to try making something I've made and enjoyed. I think of these recipes as adaptations of one, two, three, or even many, recipes I've used throughout the years—it is tricky to pin point where each idea comes from. "My" recipes exist from an amalgamation of cooking experiences and memories—there is no one true author and with these recipes, I invite you to take what you like and make it yours. All of my recipes are free of animal-products and animal-by-products.

I created this website using a program called Obsidian, with a community supported plugin called Digital Garden that allowed me to publish this website using a combination of GitHub and Netlify for free. The url is the only portion of this website that cost me money.

I have used CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to style the site. What you see right now is a work in progress (as of February 2025).

My images have been rendered using a website called Dither It!, which allows me to create dithered files that in my opinion look cool and also have the benefit of being smaller files, thus requiring less energy.

With the way the internet is going—I have felt inspired by others who have decided to return to creating personal websites instead of using social media to express themselves online. To me it feels important to be online, but not at the expense of corporations whose main objective is growth and financial gain, while also taking no social accountability for the misinformation and content slop they promote as a cheap dopamine kick.

I am a believer in autonomy and learning the skills to achieve self-autonomous goals, but also in helping others learn the skills as well. Below is a list of links to online resources that have helped me learn the skills needed to build websites as well as some other resources. I also think it is valuable to share resources that I've actually used and found helpful. These resources are all free to access and preference has been given to resources that do not require registration or login. I will be adding to this over time.

Hugo
A static HTML generator that is great for anyone looking to build a simple and lightweight site—the setup can be tricky, but once setup, it is pretty easy to add content. I was considering Hugo with the PaperMod theme for this site but preferred the ease of adding content through Obsidian.
